PRICES AND WAGES Euro-area producer prices edged up by 0.4% in June; the 12-month rate of inflation climbed to 5.6%. Annual consumer-price inflation in the Netherlands rose to 2.8% in July, a six-year high. In the year to July, producer prices in Japan fell by 0.4%. American workers received pay rises of 3.7% in the 12 months to July but failed to see any gains in real terms.
