World music sales

The world's trade in recorded music was worth $36.9 billion in 2000. The number of units sold dropped by 1.2%, as falling sales of cassettes and singles outweighed growth in compact discs. America is the single biggest market, with 38% of world turnover, but Icelanders continue to be the keenest listeners, ranked by sales per head.
