    James Bennet is The Economist‘s Lexington columnist and a senior editor. Previously he served for a year as a visiting senior editor at The Economist. He has also served as editorial page editor of The New York Times and editor-in-chief of The Atlantic. Before joining The Atlantic, he worked as a reporter at The Times in various roles, including Jerusalem bureau chief, magazine correspondent, White House correspondent and Detroit bureau chief.

    Social affairs editor
    Sacha Nauta is The Economist’s social affairs editor. Previously she was the publication’s public-policy editor. Her former roles include writing for the finance, business, international and Europe sections. She has a particular interest in societal change and has written extensively about how issues around gender and diversity are reshaping business, finance and economics as well as society at large. Her work includes an essay about “Girlhood”, a special report about “The new old” dealing with the longevity economy and a briefing on the future of the welfare state. Before joining The Economist, she worked at Her Majesty’s Treasury in London, where she worked on public spending and European budget negotiations.

    Cerian is The Economist‘s international economics correspondent. She joined in 2022 and covers economic trends in the global south. Before The Economist, Cerian was a Henry Fellow at Yale Law School. She is a graduate of Balliol College, Oxford.

    Stevie Hertz is the US Audio Correspondent for The Economist‘s suite of podcasts. She covers a broad range of topics, from business and finance for Money Talks to policy for Checks and Balance. Prior to moving to New York, she was a Senior Producer on The Intelligence. After graduating from Columbia Journalism School’s M.S. program, Stevie interned at Rhode Island Public Radio. She has a B.A. in History from the University of Cambridge.
