Supreme Court hears Sackler case; DeSantis campaign suffers setback

The Supreme Court heard arguments over whether a high-profile bankruptcy settlement can go ahead. The deal would render Purdue Pharma, the firm that helped spawn America’s opioid epidemic, and its billionaire owners, the Sackler family, immune from civil lawsuits. In exchange claimants (states, tribes, hospitals and individuals) who had sued Purdue and the Sacklers would receive payouts from a $6bn pot.
