The euro slid further against the dollar, dipping below 86 cents at one point. Sterling hit a 14-year low against the dollar. America's current-account deficit widened to a record $393.5 billion in the year to the second quarter. Japan's current-account surplus narrowed slightly in the 12 months to July, to $116.7 billion.
