CORRUPTION

|

Scandinavia is home to some of the least corrupt countries in the world, according to the latest corruption perceptions index published by Transparency International (TI), a Berlin-based non-governmental organisation that fights corruption worldwide. Finland is ranked as the cleanest country, with Denmark and Sweden close behind. Nigeria, in contrast, is rated the most corrupt of the 90 countries in the TI list, despite the efforts of President Obasanjo to attack malfeasance. Launched in 1995, the TI index ranks countries based on how much corruption is perceived to exist among politicians and public officials. These rankings are derived from 16 surveys of businessmen, the general public and country analysts from eight independent institutions.
