PRICES AND WAGES America's 12-month rate of consumer-price inflation fell to 3.5% in July from 3.7% in June, but that is still the second-highest rate of all the countries in the table. In the same month, inflation held steady in Britain, France and Sweden, but rose in Spain. Germany's rate of producer-price inflation rose to an 11-year high of 5.8%.
