Why aren’t Harris and Trump listening to Pennsylvania’s steelworkers?

The candidates oppose the takeover of US Steel. But employees want it to go ahead

Troy Stephenson has worked at the Irvin steel plant outside Pittsburgh for 27 years. His brother also works there, as do six uncles and a nephew. He is treasurer of the local chapter of the United Steelworkers (USW) and his cousin, Jason Zugai, is vice-president. “When I voted for Trump in 2016, I was still a Democrat,” Stephenson laughed, wryly. “But that’s just not the case anymore.”
